San Francisco
The best example of Baroque style architecture in Colombia. It is found in the Plaza de San Francisco, at the back of the Dann Monestario, an old beautiful monastery now a 5 star hotel.
Santo Domingo
Another Baroque-style church, the Santo Domingo church is strongly reminiscent of Spanish-style religious architecture. You can find it near the faculty of Law and Political and Social Sciences at the University of Cauca.
Catedral
A large, spectacular building, this catedral originally started as a Straw hut but in 1609 was developed. It has since been transformed into a huge neoclassical style charge that’s one of the most impressive in the city.
Ermita
The oldest church in the city. It dates back to 1546 and is found in the old part of Popayan. Its surrounding streets are made of stone, recalling Popayan’s history.
Capilla de Belen
The Belén Chapel is located on the hill of Belén. The chapel offers a stunning panoramic view of the city. To get there you have to hike a cobbled path up the hill.
